Anne-Marie Delivers Show-Stopping Set on 'Dysfunctional Tour' in Singapore

Anne-Marie recently returned to the shores of Singapore as part of her Dysfunctional Tour much to the delight of her fans. The last time the British singer-songwriter, known for hits such as “2002”, “Rockabye” and “FRIENDS”, last performed in Singapore was back in 2019.

The Dysfunctional Tour comes hot on the heels of Anne-Marie’s sophomore album titled Therapy, which she released last year. Her YouTube documentary How to be Anne-Marie and book You Deserve Better, are also part of her ongoing efforts to champion mental health awareness - something she touched upon multiple times during the concert.

Anne-Marie promised to take her fans on a trip of emotions throughout her hour-long set, and boy did she deliver! Kicking off strong, she began the night with fan favourites from her debut album Speak Now such as “Ciao adios,” “Alarm” and “Rockabye.”

Not only were Anne-Marie’s vocals unbelievably stunning live, but she was also the perfect example of what a great performer is – humouring the fans with fun banter in between songs. The fans, in turn, showed her love as well. One fan even handed her a customised t-shirt showing the singer’s professed love for our beloved pandan chiffon cake. She even indulged in signing a couple of copies of her book which fans had brought along to the show.

Taking things down a notch, Anne-Marie then moved on to emotionally charged tracks “Beautiful” and “Therapy” from her sophomore album of the same title. She doubled down on the meaning behind these songs by affirming to her fans the importance of self-love.

In this song, I talk about love being the answer to happiness, or getting tattoos making me feel happier. But when we remove all of the outward distraction, we see that true happiness comes from ourselves—from our own brains. It’s so personal. I treated that studio session like a therapy session.

And of course, what would a concert be without closing out with some bangers? After the slowdown, Anne-Marie made sure to bring the energy back up by serving the hits we all know and love such as “2002,” and “Birthday.” In addition, a mashup of songs referenced in “2002” was also played after the song, sending the fans into a hyped frenzy before she closed out the night with “FRIENDS.” It is no doubt that Anne-Marie put on quite the show that felt like a night of musical therapy to soothe any dysfunction.
