Platinum-selling, chart-topping, pop singer and songwriter Conan Gray is gearing up for a brand new chapter as he reveals his new single “People Watching” this week. Nearly a month ago, Conan starting teasing the chorus of the song on his social media accounts and it received over 115,000 pre-saves leading into release.

As a chronically single individual, I was immediately drawn to the lyrics which speak of the yearning of the feeling of being in a relationship. The extremely relatable chorus has no doubt been living rent-free in my head and the full track certainly did not disappoint. I love how it starts off mellow with just Conan’s vocals and the piano before the drums get introduced during the second chorus, adding character to the song.

‘People Watching’ is for all my fellow lonely people who wonder what it’s like to be deeply in love. I’ve never dated anyone in my entire life, so I’ve spent so many years of my life watching perfect couples sit in cafes and share coffee, whispering sweet nothings to each other. I can’t help but fantasize about what it must be like to feel that emotion.

Conan co-wrote the track with Grammy Award-winning Julia Michaels and frequent collaborator Dan Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo) and enlisted Grammy Award-winning Serben Ghenea for mixing.

“People Watching” arrives hot on the heels of Conan’s recent anthem “Astronomy,” and the music video was officially released today.

This year, Conan previously released “Overdrive” and “Astronomy” and was hand-selected by Taylor Swift to preview some of her newly re-recorded songs online. Conan has ultimately affirmed himself as the voice of his generation by speaking directly to that generation with care and without a filter. So much more awaits him on the horizon as he readies new music this year!
