Joshua Speers Teams Up with Dan Wilson on Cover of Big Star's "Thirteen"

Rising artist Joshua Speers has teamed up with prolific songwriter and Semisonic frontman Dan Wilson (Adele, Leon Bridges) for a fresh new take on Big Star’s timeless classic “Thirteen.” Wilson produced, recorded, and laid down piano and harmonies on the song, all brought to life by Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids) who mixed the final product.

The two award-winning songwriters/producers – plus Tommy English (Kacey Musgraves) – also helped shape Speers’ entire forthcoming EP Midnight Horses, out October 1 on Warner Records/Let Me Know. The 5-track record features recently-released singles “Just Kids,” “Long Way Down” and “The Runaround,” the soundtrack to ZARA’s Spring 2021 digital ad campaign.

Midnight Horses arrives on October 1 and will be a follow up to Speers’ major label debut Human Now and most recent EP Summerland. It is built on a guitar-heavy, 80s-inspired sound that’s earned acclaim from the likes of NPR, Rolling Stone, CLASH, V Magazine, American Songwriter, and more.
