Singer/Songwriter IRIS Releases Stunning New Single "Them"
IRIS is an LA-based American singer/songwriter from New Jersey, with an Icelandic heritage. She credits her introduction to music to her dad, who played his favorite bands Led Zeppelin, Pink Flyod, and Van Halen for IRIS from a young age. From that moment on, IRIS knew she was destined to be an artist in the music industry.
Having been in the rock band Linus Young, this is a new journey for IRIS as an independent solo artist. Raised in New Jersey and now based in Los Angeles. Citing John Mayer, Alicia Keys, and Amy Winehouse as inspiration, this prolific singer and songwriter pens music that strikes listeners in the heart - specifically ones going through heartbreak, and ones going through the journey of finding happiness. She strives to enlighten and strengthen each and every listener through positive message and heart-wrenching lyrics. IRIS’ first major success as a solo artist was her breakout single “Crazy” which was featured on the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet. In September, she released her song “Today” which ended up being featured in LA Weekly.
IRIS recently released her new single “Them”. The incredible new single conveys a message of love and acceptance, as it showcases IRIS’ stunning vocals. “Them” was written by IRIS alongside Trey Campbell (Celine Dion, John Legend) and Grammy Award Winning Producer Malay (Frank Ocean, Lorde, Sam Smith) and produced by Malay. The song was originally featured in the series, Mix with the Masters, where IRIS and Malay discussed their inspiration for the new project and how it developed “emotionally, musically, and sonically.”
With her new wave of music, IRIS recently shared with LA Weekly that she is “trying to do more fun pop-disco inspired things but also integrate more soul and rock vibes into it.”
