Breaking Records: FIFTY FIFTY's 'THE BEGINNING' EP Marks a New Era in K-Pop

K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY releases THE BEGINNING EP via Warner Records. The EP includes the group’s smash single “Cupid” which is the longest charting song by a K-pop girl group on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record for the highest-charting K-pop girl group at Top 40 radio, landing in the Top 10 at radio.
For the first time, THE BEGINNING is notably available in seven collectible physical variants. Each variant includes a 196-page booklet with the secured CD, with two of four exclusive trading photocards packaged inside. There are seven color options in total, including the Original Version 1 in pink, Original Version 2 in orange, a Target Exclusive in red, Barnes & Noble Exclusive in green, Walmart Exclusive in blue, Amazon Exclusive in yellow, and D2C Exclusive in purple.
THE BEGINNING consists of FIFTY FIFTY’s debut THE FIFTY EP and the international smash single-album, The Beginning: Cupid as well as three newly recorded tracks. Among the previously unreleased material, they’ve ignited powerful and impassioned Live Studio Versions of “Cupid (Twin Ver.),” “Lovin’ Me,” and “Tell Me.”
Last month, the group released “Cupid Twin Ver.” (ft. Sabrina Carpenter). It has already garnered 8 million Global Streams. Rolling Stone hailed it as a “buoyant pop number.” In addition to plugs from The Line of Best Fit and more, UPROXX put it best, “On the remix, two of the biggest acts in pop lean on each other as they push through the heartache. Their sisterly bond through music makes a powerful force, as they continue to dance the pain away.”
“Cupid” continues to shatter one benchmark after another. As the fastest K-pop group ever to enter the U.S Billboard Hot 100 chart, FIFTY FIFTY notably garnered a nomination in the category of “Best K-Pop” at the 2023 MTV VMAs for “Cupid.” The track has held a spot on the Billboard Global 200 for a staggering 27 weeks and peaked at #2.
Thus far, “Cupid” has gathered 6.2 billion streams, while the music video surpassed 133 million views. On TikTok, it garnered over 17.7 million “creates” with 34.5 billion views.
Earlier this summer, FIFTY FIFTY joined the blockbuster soundtrack, Barbie: The Album, with the release of “Barbie Dreams” (feat. Kaliii). The group consists of four visionary artists and performers, Saena, Sio, Aran, and Keena.
