Hailing from Canada, the dynamic quartet known as Valley (consisting of lead vocalist Rob Laska, guitarist Michael Brandolino, bassist Alex Dimauro, and drummer Karah James) had their very first show in Singapore last week. During their brief stay, Valley had the opportunity to engage with fans at a special event hosted by Universal Music Singapore and delighted their taste buds with delectable local cuisines. For the record, Rob definitely knows what he’s talking about because that sounds like the start of a wonderful plate of Hainanese curry rice, but make it the chicken rice edition.

The Gateway Theatre, an intimate space with a seating capacity of 922, bore witness to a sold-out show that encapsulated the essence of Valley’s music. The four-piece infused the venue with an electrifying energy, ensuring a symbiotic connection with the audience. Throughout the evening the atmosphere remained charged, as the fans’ enthusiasm remained unwavering, mirroring the band’s magnetic presence.

Rob’s artful balance of performance and crowd interaction was a sight to behold. Taking cues from drummer Karah, he ventured into the crowd multiple times, bridging the gap between himself and the fans. The shared moments of proximity elevated the concert experience, turning the performance into an intimate musical conversation.

While the spotlight shone on tracks from their latest album Lost In Translation, Valley ventured across their discography, treating the audience to a rich selection of songs. From the heartwarming notes of “There’s Still A Light In The House” to the introspective allure of “Good, but not together,” the band’s sonic journey resonated deeply.

The audience exuberantly sang along to infectious tracks like “nevermind” and “Break For You,” with the euphoria reaching its peak during the performance of crowd favorite “Like 1999.” The setlist proved to be an absolute treat for both OG Val Pals and new fans alike.

A special mention must be reserved for the exceptional sound engineering and lighting crew, who masterfully wove together mesmerizing visuals and flawless audio. Their meticulous work complemented Valley’s already outstanding performance, creating a multisensory spectacle that reverberated throughout the venue.

Valley’s voyage to Asia was met with anticipation and their debut performance in Singapore definitely exceeded all expectations. Val Pals in Singapore had the marvelous opportunity of witnessing their favorite tunes come to life on stage. As the final notes came through the speakers, it was evident that Valley had left an enduring mark on the hearts of the fans. I think we can all agree that we definitely had a good summer (with) Valley!
